No Exercise= LOW Energy Density Foods

As I am in the first week of recovering from breast augmentation surgery, I am realizing how important eating clean is, especially when you cannot exercise. Healing has to happen without excessive exercise, therefore eating as clean and healthy as possible is important. When you are not burning your normal amount of calories, every calorie that goes in your body has to be packed with the most nutrition per bite!! Sounds scary! I am focusing on eating lots of fruit right now and sticking to foods with that are high in volume and low in energy density. For example, one cup of cheerios has about 110 calories and not much of anything useful, you'll eat it, your insulin will rise and you'll be searching for more satisfaction really soon. One cup of romaine lettuce has about 10 calories, try eating 5 or even 6 cups of lettuce and trust me you will be so FULL. By using foods that have less calories per volume, you can fill yourself up for less calories. These foods have more water and fiber in them and help keep you from reaching for that extra bread from the basket.
I dare you to try this!! Choose from the good list as much as possible.

GOOD Low Energy Density Foods:
Asparagus
Broth - eat soup with low sodium before your meal & you'll be stuffed
Lettuce (all types)
Zucchini- try eating 13 zucchinis at once, near impossible!
Cauliflower
Cabbage
Melons
Apples
Grapefruit
Egg whites
Oatmeal

BAD High Energy Density Foods
CANDY- DUH can you eat 13 M&M's in one sitting? YUP! Much easier to eat than the zucchini
Bacon
Cheese - One little cube of cheese has a lot of fat and cals
French Fries
Potato chips - you can't eat just one
Pizza
Cookies- who eats just one Oreo

and Drumroolllllllllllllll - My last example one slice of cheesecake from the cheesecake factory is easy to eat, dammit you don't even want to share the goodness.

Nutritional Content of a Snickers Cheesecake Factory Cheesecake

920 Cals
63 Grams of Fat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

84 Carbs

On that note choose Low Density Foods, regardless if you can exercise or not :)
